You should consider bunkbeds when you are decorating a child’s room.  Bunkbeds are the best way to save space as well as sleep more than one child in the same amount of space. 

Bunkbeds are normally thought of as the standard twin over twin bunk bed.  While this is still the most favored of all bunkbeds today, there are other types of bunkbeds that can work for just about any situation.  Some of them are twin beds and some are full.

A full over full bunk bed is the best choice economically when it comes to bunkbeds.  It can sleep the most children at one time and costs only a little bit more than a twin over full bunk bed.  A twin over full bunk bed is one where there is a twin bed on the top and  a full bed on the bottom.  This can sleep three children comfortably and is a good choice if you have two children sharing a room an one occasional overnight guest.

With so many blended families today, it is a wise idea to consider bunkbeds when you are designing a child’s room.  Kids love bunkbeds as they are as they love to climb the ladder that leads to the second bunk.  Having a twin over full bunk bed in your child’s room will be a great joy for him or her.  And as these beds come with metal frames that are brightly colored as well as mattresses, you can often get a twin over full bunk bed for a lot less money than you would have to pay for a single bed.  Not only do you get to sleep more children in the same amount of space, but it costs you less money. 

As children get older, their needs begin to change.  When a child is six years old, they will enjoy their bunkbeds.  They may prefer to sleep on the bottom or the top and use the other part of the bed as a play area or keep their stuffed dolls and toys on this bed.  They can also use their imagination and make the bottom bunk into a fort or some sort of play den.  A six year old will enjoy having bunkbeds and for this reason, many parents consider buying bunkbeds as a child’s first bed because they can have an opportunity more sleeping space.   If the child has a cousin or friend who spends the night, or if there is a case where there is a blended family in which the child has a step brother or sister who visits, the child does not have to give up their bed and yet the other child is welcome.  Bunkbeds can be a valuable asset with a blended family.

As your child grows, he or she may request more sleepovers with friends.  This is true especially of girls, who never really tire of this habit.  Boys will also want sleepovers but generally stop doing this when they reach high school age as it is not considered “cool.”   Girls, however, will do this all through high school.  Bunkbeds for girls include the classic white bunk bed which goes well in the room of any girl.

Most girls will want to have sleepovers as they get older and continue to do so. For this reason, you can save the BFF of your daughter from sleeping on the floor by getting bunkbeds.  Although you should not feel obligated to get a bed for the friends of your children, you should realize that they will have sleepovers and will have friends over for long visits.  This is a lot better than the kids sleeping in sleeping bags on the floor in the living room where they can make noise and get into trouble. 

Teenagers can even benefit from bunkbeds.  The futon bunk bed is one of the newest designs when it comes to bunkbeds.  The futon bunk bed features a twin bed on the top and a full bed on the bottom.  What makes the futon bunk bed different from the twin over full bunk bed is that the bottom bunk folds up so that it is like a sofa.  The mattress on the bottom bunk is not an ordinary full mattress but a futon mattress.  This can give your teenager some sitting space in his or her room without impeding on his or her sleeping space. The sitting space can then be converted into sleeping space if the teenager has friends over or if there are overnight guests. 

Because people often have blended families that includes kids coming to stay for a weekend that belong to you or your spouse, or have their kids’ friends overnight on occasion, or often, which ever the case may be, the need for bunkbeds seems to increase as children get older.  When you are decorating a child’s room, you should consider the future and how you can maximize the amount of space that you have in the room.  One way to do this is to purchase bunkbeds for the room.

You can purchase bunkbeds at a variety of different outlets and get them in just about any style that you want.  From wood to metal - and in varied color and innovations, bunkbeds are the best bet for a child’s room.
