A charming accessory is like a showcase for your candle.  From vast illustrious centerpieces to modest wick dippers, candle accessories for the home are the epitome of function and style.  I recently moved into a new house with my family, and I found that half the delight of a new home was the fresh interiors and finding the right ornaments, candles, and accessories to compliment them.

A Beautiful New Home

I took some time to think about what I wanted in our home.  I love candles, so my first port of call was to purchase my scented candles.  Finding fragrances to suit my new home wasn’t too hard because I stocked up on all different varieties, shapes and sizes.  The harder part for me was to find the perfect accessories to accentuate our new space and that all the family could enjoy.

Time to get “Inno-Votive”

To decorate my personal study, I treated myself to two unique votive candle holders that complement each other. One is of a tribal dancer who holds a candle in each hand, and the other is of a Mother and Child joining hands around a scented votive candle. The dark metal and rattan material worked perfectly with the wooden finish of my workplace.

For my Husband’s poker nights with his buddies, I found a handful of card-themed votive holders, which really sets the mood in the middle of a midnight poker game. My husband also did not complain about the décor of the kitchen being too ‘girly’ and surely impressed his friends. So, even with a weekly group of men sitting at the table playing card for hours, my house still smells as good as new!

I invested in a number of votives from Trapp Candles in exotic scents like Guava and Mango to go with the exotic feeling of my study. For the Poker nights, I took a more masculine approach with Black Pepper and Burmese Wood. A Perfect Centerpiece

Tea light candle holders make the perfect centerpiece that can get the conversation rolling at a dinner party. I found a very delicate tree table candle holder to use when I entertain guests. It artistically holds eight tea lights in glass cups, which are nestled amongst curving branches and copper tone leaves. When I placed it on a table during our house warming dinner, nobody could take their eyes off it!

My children prefer the ‘Century Tree Candle Holder’ who is a wise old tree trunk that holds a single tea-light in one branch and an antiquated book in the other. They sit in front of him in the evening and conjure up stories that they imagine old ‘Tree-beard’ would tell. Very cute!

I found an oriental style elephant that holds the most robust of candles in a basket placed on his back. The elephant has a raised trunk which is a gesture of good fortune so I try and keep him by the door to welcome and wave goodbye to my guests and to offer them the best of luck on their travels. I like to place pillar, aromatherapy candles in the elephant’s basket, as this also greets our visitors with a rich, homely aroma. 

A Great Gift for Mom or Grandma

I helped my youngest daughter choose a rose-colored plaque that has the words “I love you Grandma” and a floral design embellished on it for my Mother’s birthday.
